day04

Firenze sto arrivando!

Day four is here. Can you believe that? This day is the busiest day, so many places we've visited and an eventful one too! So shall we start this day? Hahaha. I can't seem to write properly right now. Too excited! ak dyiaydisyd (See, I am that excited!). Alrights then you readers! Let's start this thing! ^^
So the day started out exactly the same as yesterday with a heavy  breakfast (same food though)! Hehe. It was still delizioso! I ate more this time though. Hams were still as good as ever!

Hmm, so this day will be a hectic one. Anyways, before we left, I hugged the bed first since we won't be coming back in this Roman Hotel as we are off to Firenze (Florence)!! Can you believe it? It's time to say goodbye to Rome D: But before we could do that, we still have one more place to visit which is of course the ...

COLOSSEUM
If you read my first day entry then you know that I am in love with this place! It is even more BELLA inside! Like omgeee! Haha. I tend to keep saying Omgee huh? OK, moving on! We were fortunate that it was not crowded at all and the weather was great! It's really weird, it is sunny but it's cold at the same time! Hahaha.

So after we have our ticket, we made our way inside!
The first word that came out from my mouth was: EEEK! Yes, eek! Hahaha. I was too speechless to say anything! Like seriously, the place was breathe-taking! It was OUT OF THIS WORLD! Do you get what I mean? Hehehe. I love the new tour guide because she is so much like me! Hah. She seems to like history very much because the way she describes the Colosseum and the events that had happened is really clear and she even has this book which shows the before and after. She made me listen to her stories even though I have read abou them millions of time!

It was an amazing experience! I wish you guys were there to see it too. The scenery was Beautiful especially when you are at the top most level plus the sun was shining so brightly! ^^ Love Rome so much! Hehehe. Took loads of photos and after that, we have to leave as we have 4 hour bus ride to Tuscany! Haha.

DT: Ohmygosh! Have I mentioned that the new bus driver is soooo BELO (handsome)! Hehe. Ladies and Gentlemen, let me introduce you to: Antonio (I don't know the last name though)! He will be our bus driver all the way to MILAN! Hehehehe. When I say a guy is cute, I am telling the truth ;)Alright, I shall stop being a Italian guy-crazy right now. I must warn you that from Day 04 all the way to the last day, there will be a lot of Antonio-crazy moments! Hehehe. I shall try to lessen it okay since maybe some of you ain't comfortable with it :D

RIDE TO TUSCANY!
This ride isn't that eventful actually, rather boring since we have to spend 4 hours in the bus! I wanted to sleep too but the country side scenery was distracting me! Hehe. The mountains and fields were too wonderful ! Haha. I could not stop but look at them. Lol. Took few pictures. Since there was no other entertainment, I finally slept for few minutes then I would wake up and eat my Granola Bars. Haha!

After 3 hours and 30 minutes, I finally saw A VINEYARD! Tuscany is famous for its lovely vineyards! There was no grapes in sight though but it is still great seeing a vineyard! Haha. I watched this movie: Letters to Juliet which was shot in Florence. They showed one of Florence's vineyard and I was hoping that we are able to visit too but sadly, it wasn't part of our itenary! Sad.

Along the journey, Mr Dan shared a story.
This might not be the exact words he used since I sort of forgot. Hehe. Mi dispiace! The main lesson in this story is that, tomorrow is a better day! Or it shows that you have to look on a brighter side instead of moping and whining. The slave who was the main character always say: It is Good. It is Good. Hehe ^^

The place was so green! Hehe. Greener than old Singapore. There were a lot of unused lands which just means that Italy is a big country! HAHA. So after 4 hours, we finally reached our destination: THE MALL! This is where they sell the expensive and branded goods like: FENDI, GUCCI, CHANEL and many more. Mr Dan wanted us to have a taste of Italy's fashion, it's more of looking at the branded goods than buying them since they are freaking expensive! Lol.

More Info: We had free lunch! Hehe. This is all thanks to Mr Dan's agency! We were in a group of 5 (Sec 3s are the one who used) and we were given 50euro each for our lunch! So we can choose whatever we want! We were given an hour to eat as well as browse through the shops.  IT WAS AWESOME! I was with: Alphonsine, Victoria, Wenxin and Kartini!

Since Alphonsine wants to check out the BRANDED shops, we chose to eat just 3 types of pizza, a HUGE sandwhich and juices. When I say huge sandwhich, I really mean it! Hehe. Ohs! Something hilarious happened as we were eating..

Dear Wenxin accidentally spilled Orange Juice to our pizza and we were like: "It is good. It is good." Haha. Get it? We did what the slave did! lol. Anyways, we couldn't waste the food so we ate it! Yes dear readers, we ate a pizza soaked with ORANGE JUICE and let me just say that it was sour! HAHAHA.

After the disastrous meal, we browse through the EXPENSIVE shops!
I was right, everything was expensive (I checked the prices ok)! Hahaha. A pair of shoes was like 500 Euro! Then there dresses was what, 900? Hahaha. It was too high for any of us! lol. But I must admit that the shoes were awesome. I am obsessed with shoes so yeah. Hehehe.

Hmm, we had to make our way back to the bus as our time is almost up!
Did I mention that it was cold? Colder than the Roman air. Brrrrrrr.

FLORENCE - DAVID.
So after few more minuted of travelling, we finally reached our destination! Yessa! Florence buildings are a little bit different but Graffiti are still everywhere! Hehehe. Ladies and gentlemen, the first place that we visited is the museum where DAVID - the most beautiful man sculpted by a talented Michael Angelo! Have you read or heard about the Bible Story of David and Goliath? Wells, you better research or read a bible now! Hehehe. Before I tell you more about this David, let me introduce our lovely tour guide: SANDRA!

Sandra isn't an Italian like the 2 previous guides. She is from Venezuela and she has been living in Italy for 2 years now! Hehehe. She says that she love Italy because it is safer than her hometown. OHS! AND SHE IS OUR FAVOURITE TOUR GUIDE! Do you know why? Wells, she can really connect with us. She has this hyper attitude and when she tries to tell us more about the places, she links it back to dancing! BEST GUIDE EVER! And she loves to tell jokes too! Hehe.

Enough about Sandra, let's talk about: DAVID!
HE is a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture created between 1501 and 1504, by the Italian artist Michelangelo. It is a 5.17 metre (17 foot) marble statue of a standing male nude! Yes. THE GUY IS NUDE! Hehe. But it does not look obscene at all, it looks BEAUTIFUL MAJESTIC! Hehehe.

Before we could see David, Sandra told us the history of how Michaelangelo sculpted David. It was said that many sculptors tried to sculpt David but they gave up commenting that the marble used was a 'poor' one. Then Michaelangelo proved them wrong and completed David with the very same 'poor' marble! And voila! DAVID WAS BORN. So here's the thing, if Michaelangelo is able to sculpt such a beautiful piece with a bad marble, what can he do with a GOOD MARBLE? This man is indeed a genius! A true Renaissance (please look this up) man!

Oh yes, for more information about Florence and artists, please read about RENAISSANCE!

Right now, I shall tell you what I think of David. ^^
First of all, I was starstruck when I saw Him because:

1. HE WAS HUGE! SERIOUSLY HUGE!
2. HE WAS NAKED AND YOU CAN SEE HIS YOU KNOW ;)
3. HE WAS BEAUTIFUL. FULL STOP.

I walked around the stature and it was so surreal! It feels that he will come alive and will start walking! Hehe. He looks so real from head to toe! I mean if you look intently in his eyes, you can see it move. And his arms, there were veins! OHMYGOSH! Hehehe. Michaelangelo is so passionate with his work!

Hmm, so after David, we went inside this room: Sala di Giotto – The influential 14th century painter Giotto and his school, particularly Bernardo Daddi and Taddeo Gaddi, are represented in this room with small religious paintings, including Daddi's Crucifixion! There were these paintings that were made up of PURE GOLD! If I am not mistaken, the paintings were about Jesus Christ's journey.

And about the Crucifixion, Sandra told us that a long time ago, Jesus was not looking down but looking up as if he was looking beyond! As centuries pass by, they changed it. It seems that they want Jesus to be seen as a GOD who is 'just like us' instead of  'I am greater than you'. That's a little bit info ^^ Then, visiting the Acadamia Gallery we made our way outside of Il Duomo - Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore!

CATHEDRAL OF SANTA MARIA
This is another big church! Hehe. Is it just me or are all the Italian chruches enormous? Perhaps, Singapore should do the same so that it can have more Christians. Okay, I'm talking crap now. Moving on. We went inside the Cathedral but couldn't take pictures since it was not allowed again. The inside is ok though (I mean the decor) but the outside is AMAZING! Hehehe. There's this passageway  that leads to a 463 steps of stairs! After climbing, you'll be at the top of the Duomo with an amazing view (I heard it's BEAUTIFUL!) Hahaha. And NO, we did not clim those steps (are you crazy!) although I wanted to. Hehe. It was not part of our tour and trust me, it will take like 2836234 hours for us to reach the top! Haha. Perhaps the  next time I visit Firenze  ^^

Did you know: one of the nails that were used in the Crucifixation was in the Cathedral! Okay, I am not really sure, it's either here or the church we went in Milan. Let me check...

After which, we headed outside again where Sandra showed us the GATE OF PARADISE! I swear that gate is like 70% Gold. Hehe. Hmm, the gate was decorated with Bible Stories like David & Goliath, Noah's Ark, Adam & Eve and many more. I wonder if we open it... Will there be Paradise? Or only those who are good Christians can see the 'paradise' while the rest only see white lights? Hmmmm.

We did saw the Piazza della Signoria at a glance but Mr Dan said that we will go into detail on that tomorrow! Hmm, so guess where we were heading then... Drum roll please. ^^ Wells, Sandra knows us so well that she guessed that we are itching to SHOP! Haha. So she lead us to the Leather Market (kinda like Pasar Malam) which sells great stuff (esp bags) but are rather expensive for us. Haha. BUT WHO CARES! Time to shop for souveniers! Hehe. As usual, Mr M asked us to be group on 4, so I went with Farliana Atika Nicole! Hehehe.

So here's what I bought:
1. Shirts for my mom, dad and bro.
2. Minature DAVID
3. A Firenze bag
4. I ♥ Firenze shirt plus I ♥ Italia
5. Cutiee Bracelets! ^^

It's not really a lot especially if you compare it to the other girls! OHBOY! They are like must buy must buy mode! Hehehe. Alphonsine bought loads of stuff (we were comparing during the night), even Baby Kartini. Hahaha. OKOK.

This is the part where a drama came in.
After the shopping spree, Mr Dan asked us: Do you guys want to try the best hot chocolate ever? And we were like: OMG! YESSSSSS! (you have to imagine this answer with our loud voices and animated faces!) Hehehe. So we went to this small Restorante which sells the BEST of the BEST hot chocolatee! Hehehe.

Have you seen Eat Pray Love?
Remember the scene where she wanted to buy coffee and some ate right in front of the counter? HAHAHA! Wells people, Atika and I did that too! We drank right in front of the counter (the maker asked us to) and the rest of the customers (loads of them!)has to wait for us. We had to drink real fast but it is so annoying since I wanted to savour the moment you know? HELLO, I AM DRINKING AN ITALIAN HOT CHOCOLATE! Hehehe.

I burnt my tongue cause of that. It totally hurts but I gotta be considerate right? Hmm, so after that, we went out and brr, it was soo cold! The rest of the dancers were there as well drinking their hot chocolate (they take away!). So this is the part where a very sad thing happened...

Ms Nicole lost her money! Like all the money.
Here's what happened, she was drinking hot choco outside and she put her
wallet on one of the tables and she sort of forgot to take it! And in 10minutes time,
it was so GONE without a trace. D:

We could not find the wallet at all and we had to give it up and eat our dinner. Poor Nicole. Sigh. But she was a strong girl though (as always), I mean she didn't even cry at all! She merely gave us a confident smile. So that's the down part of the fourth day Dear Readers!
Chinese Dinner

I don't want to elaborate this part though, I mean nothing much. I am being bias right now! But seriously though, the Chinese food in Italy are all the same! Gaaaah.

FLORENCE ART HOTEL!
Among the hotels that we stayed, I love this hotel! Haha. It is so artsy although their food ain't that great (breakfast!). So anyways, I still share a room with the same retarded girls- Alphonsine, Kartini. The good thing about this hotel is that the HEATER is just there which means we can bathe with hot water! Alleluia. HEHE. So I had to bathe after a tiring day right? OF COURSE! Love bathing so much and the Hotel soap is so nice (vegetable soap!)

I should describe to you the room cause I have this feeling that 3 of us always get the weirdest room ever! So there were 2 beds then HAHA! Then this small foldable bed (for little kids), and Kartini has to sleep with it again! Poor her, the bed was too short for her (who as her to have long legs!). Nyehehehehe.

As usual, we didn't sleep at 10pm (so early!).
We were exploring the tv and ohs! We wanted to watch a movie but of course, we had to pay right? SO no thank you! We managed to find an English Channel where they play songs (sort of like MTV). We left both the tv (so it won't be too quiet) and lights (for Kartini's sake!) on! If I am not wrong, we slept around 12am or later than that! These girls love to chaaaaat! ^^

Hmm, so that's the end of the fourth day!
So, we are halfway to the end of the trip, what do you think of it so far?
Come on you guys, you have to comment on this okay! Pleaasseee. Gratziee!

Wells, till the next post then you guys!
Dianne Mae

ps/ do you know that Antonio sleeps in the same hotel as us? (like duh right?!) Haha.

pps/ I forgot to tell you this incident! It was on the 3rd day and Paula was telling us that her phone was stolen! She said a young boy pick-pocketed her when we were outside the Colesseum (2nd day)! She didn't notice it until she was in the train! Omgee right? Wells, she managed to get back cause she went back to the Colesseum and she saw this boy using his PHONE! And I was like omgee! What if it happened to us? What are the possibilities right? :O

DAY 4.

Love, Rachael.

!Day 4! Whoohoo!

We travelled from Rome to Florence today. But between the ride, we stopped for lunch and shopped for awhile. We are also glad that we managed to take a good look at what's inside of the Colosseo, all thanks to MrDan! :)

After the tour in the Colosseo, we got to Florence, we '' went to see David''. We also got the chance to see the other statues created by Michel Angelo. After that we went to buy some souvenirs and headed for dinner. (Chinese food again). We spent our night at one of the hotels in Florence.
What have I learnt?
I learn that David had faith in himself and God. He believed in himself that he is able to defeat his enemy. Similarly, we, Dancers should have faith in ourselves and try our best to achieve greater heights.
How can we increase the number of Sec 1s of  joining dance next year?
  • Bonding  -  Playing ice breaking game, chit chat, etc.
  • Attract them  -  Inspire them with our Passion for Dance, etc.

The Assassin,
Victoria :)

Day 4!! :DD

The weather is getting colder. We went inside the Colosseum in the morning. It looks old and it is made up of stones. I looked around and I feel like I’m surrounded by CHEESE! :D

Next, we took the bus to Florence! On the way there, we stopped at a Mall to have our lunch and to shop around. I ate pizza and fries. Delicious! :P The things there are expensive so we didn’t buy anything.

When we reached Florence, we went to visit the museum about the sexiest guy in the world, named David. Michel Angelo loved marbles and so he decided to make a sculpture of David using marbles. He carved it for 3 years.

Its shopping time! :) We went to the leather market to shop. After that, we headed back to the hotel.

End of Day Four!
xoxo,
Siching

HEYLO :)

Today after having breakfast, we went to visit the colosseum again to see the inside of it as today it is open to the public. After that we went to the luxury mall and my group ate 3 pizzas and 1 sandwich! Then we went around to look at the branded goods but it was really costly so we did'nt purchase anything. After that, we went to visit david the statue, also known as ' the thinking man' . Then we went to the market for shopping!

Today, i have learnt that the people who built the colosseum took 8 years to built it. And it was really amazing because , the biggest church in the world, inside the vatican city, took 129 years to be built. The colosseum was built in such a short period of time.
And today, everyone was on time! That showed our trademarks well.
As we were discussing, how do we become a niche cca, firstly, i think we should first get GOLD WITH HONOURS for next years' syf to maintain the standard. After that, we should make sure our recruitment number for next year sec 1s is good. We can make that happen by doing well for our cca open house. I really hope that we would become a niche cca as i would not want the cca to close down badly.

                                                       The inside of the colosseum!
                                                                       cheeks! <3

ALPHONSINEKOH

Hi :)

Day #04
Its colder today. In the morning, we went to the Colosseum. It was very HUGE and OLD but it sure holds memories of the past. The Colosseum is mainly made out of stone walls. Its morning and there are not much people around. We managed to take excellent pictures and we toured without obstructions.

After that, we took the bus to Florence. During the long journey, we entertained ourselves with games and small conversations. In the end, we were all fast asleeped at our seats.

We then visited museums which holds Michaelangelo's painting and sculptures. It was totally AWESOME!!

Next up, we went to the leather market for shopping!! The place was packed with both locals and foreigners. The place smelled of cigarettes and alchohal. The goods are made in Italy and some are cheap. I spent alot of Euros!! Furthermore, most of the goods cannot be found in Singapore.

My Days so far were AMAZING!!

LOVE,
Sheryl
Hey:)) Day 04!!! Today we're heading to Firenze!!!! Its florence...But but but but before that we're heading INSIDE the Colosseo...Btw,the weather today was really cold!!! It was so old, but at the same time, many things were still preserved, like a small section of the floor, the VIP seat were all around 2000 years old...Although many things has changed ever since they stopped the gladiator fights, but the place was still as amazing as it was in the very very olden days...
See the white marbles there, thats where the VIPs used to sit.
Group shot of the dancers inside the Colosseo
After that we took a long bus ride, heading for FLORENCE!!! On the way we stopped at The Mall, to have lunch...we ate lunch, and we were all given 10 euros to spend, i ate this humongous burger, and i couldn't walk after that...but because we were given time to shop, i couldn't careless about giving time for my burger digest, i RAN to the shops, but seriously i ran after eating a huge burger, cuz the shops there were like Gucci, Pucci, Burberry, Alexander McQueen, Prada and all types of famous Italian brands, after all, we're in Italy, I must shop for good stuff, but after looking at the prices, i'd rather save the money for cheap and nice items.so i practically ran for no reason...What a waste....But Mr Dan, bought a Chanel bag, such a rich guy. Anyway continued our journey towards to Florence.

Some shots of the sky, lol i was bored...so twilight-ish..

We arrived in Florence, first we saw 'David', the sexiest man on Earth, i have no idea how they came up with the term, when all he did was fought naked .Michel Angelo was the one that sculptured David.....Sandra was our tour guide, she was so friendly, and she kept relating everything to us dancers, she was very enthusiastic about the visits..After that we had one hour shopping!!!! YAYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, that shopping wasn't THAT nice...We went to this hat shop, and the hats there was so cute and nice, but the owner was kinda irritating, okay not kinda, he was SUPER DUPER irritating...in the end, i couldn't stand him and i decided to leave the shop for good!!  And we saw this extremely cute bag, that costs 38 euros, and the shop owner said he would give us a discount at 28 euros because we're students, thats when me, alphonsine, and victoria can't stop smiling, and of course we bought it, like duhh, the bag was so nice, and the owner was SUPER DUPER NICE AND FRIENDLY.... 1...2...3...AHHHHHH!!!
Anyway we bought lots of souvenirs from there, and after that some of us bought hot chocolate, and it was very thick chocolate...and the texture was a bit like glue...but anyway it was still nice!:))
We had dinner, and headed back to our hotel....
oh oh oh, and while i was shopping, there was this symbol everywhere, on my nice bag, and books and keychains and finally i found out what the symbol stands for, its FIRENZE!!!
This is how it looks like :)
Oh thats it,
Love,
Kim Sarah.

Day 4:

We're going to florence today!! But... Before that we went back to the Roman Colosseo. Our tour manager; Mr Dan, helped us to rearrange the timing so that we will be able to visit the colosseo as we didn't get to go in the previous time... From the inside we got a clear view of what the colosseo was like, we were blessed that the area was not packed with people and we were able to move fast. And we continued our journey to florence has we say goodbye to rome...

Arriving Florence:

We came to a rest stop after the long journey, at THE MALL. We were assign into groups of 5, and was given 10 euro each for our lunch. We had pizza and sandwich and some drinks, though I kinda spilled the drink at the pizza-.- But we still ate it, sry guys... Then we went shopping:) Though we didn't really bought anything but it was a good experience:)
After that we continued our journey to florence. Finally we arrived in florence:) there we meet our new tour guide; Sandre. She brought us to see the ''world's most sexest man'' David. It was actually a sculpture which was sculptured by Micheal Angelo who was the one who painted the Sistine Chapel. Then Sandre brought us to the leather market where we could do our shopping! Yay!! After all the excitment we went for dinner and head back to the hotel:)

wenxin-

Roman Colosseum
You must be thinking, againn???
Haha, the other day when we went, it was already closed.
Thankfully for Mr.Dan, he managed to rearrange for us to get a chance to see the inside of the colosseo in the morning before we left Rome.
So there it was, so majestic and great. Yet so detailed and stuctured too.
Sadly, the architect couldn't be credited for his work as he is unknown.
I'm sure it would have been a great honour for him to know millions of tourists go there to see the Colosseo and that it is one of the 7 wonders of the modern world.

Florence (Firenze)
*ding-dong* Next stop, Florence.
It was a long ride to our next destination and had a stopover at THE MALL.
At THE MALL, we were each given 10-euros to buy what we wanted at an expensive restaurant.
So we had our lunch at THE MALL, then set off to the Galleria Del Academia to look at the works of Michelangelo.

David
Made of hard marble, size so many times larger than man, details were so clearly sculpted in..
I had heard about this statue but never knew it was related to the Bible.
So, this man's name was actually David.
The one and only David who had faith so strong that he fought the giant-Goliath, not just without an armour but naked, not just without heavy weapons but with his slingshot, a couple of smooth stones and his faith in God.

I was awestruck by the statue as much as I was of that parable.
Although many had tried and failed as they thought the marble was so hard it would be impossible, Michelangelo proved them wrong and did such a fantastic job out of it.
Every detail of a man in much thought and tension of being in battle was portrayed in the sculpture.
From the veins, to the collar bone, to his curly hair and tensed muscles.
Even his exposed organs were sculpted so clearly.
I feel that it is very inspiring to see Man achieve what everone else deem impossible.

Market
Afterward, we headed to some sort of a market which resembled our 'pasar malam' here.
Although this one was rather costly and high-class. We bought more souvenirs then went for dinner before headin back to the hotel.

Hotel Firenze
We were hoping that this time the hotel would be less creepy to allow us a good night's rest.
Fortunately, it didn't look too ancient and Sheryl and my room were not situated in an isolated room.
Though the corridors were still rather dimly lit and there was still no kettle in the room. =P
(okae, ignore the kettle-part. i'm so spoilt haha.)

Day 4
We started the morning fresh with the good breakfast at the hotel and we headed to the Colloseum straight away. Actually, Mr Michael and Mr Dan had arranged last minute to fit in another activity for the day and that was to visit the Colloseum, and had to call the agency and such. It was such a nice thing to do, that made me go "Awww.." :)

After that, we said our farewell to Rome and headed to Florence instead. We stopped by a Mall to have lunch in our separate groups and walked around. However there was nothing much to spend on because there were only branded goods sold there.

We continued our journey to Florence and met up with our Italian tour guide named Sandra. She was my fave tour guide (prolly why I remembered her name haha) cos she was bubbly and friendly throughout and she didn't bore us out, I was actually interested in knowing more. We went inside the chapel and such, and had time to shop in our separate groups. We ended the day with hot chocolate (the best in da world according to Mr Dan) and chinese dinner. The hotel was much more modern thus no such frights as the one before and this time I spent the night with Sheryl.
