day06

MAMA MIA, VENEZIAAAAA!

I should be happy since 6th day means: Venice Island but then, 6th day means that there are only 2 more days to go before we go home. SIGH. Depressing isn't it? Okay. I shall just be happy right now since this entry will be full of activities! You want to know why? Hehe. WE ARE HAVING A MINI-AMAZING RACE IN VENICE ISLAND! Yeah yeah yeah.

I do talk a lot huh? Okok, let's start this entry!

I should just skip the Venetian Breakfast since it is not much. Hehe. After the breakfast, we made our way to the bus! Everyone was excited to reach the island since it is famous! Hehehe. Temperature was 1 degree and Mr Tan said that once we reach the island it will drop! Mamma Mia isn't it? Hehe.

We had to ride a boat in order to reach the island! HAHA. It was rather funny though cause it was a long ride and wells, dancers had to occupy themselves right? Guess what we did? HAHA! We sang millions of songs. Ohs! We tried to breath out as well since it is cold enough to allow us to see our BREATHES! Totally colio! Hehehe.

THE VENEZIA ISLAND!
Whoaaaaaaaaaaaa! Snow! Omgeee!
Those were the words that came out from my mouth when I saw the place! Gosh, the weather was just perfect ^^ The sky doesn't seem real, it seems that someone painted it! Lovely. Gorgeous! Oh the snow part? Hehehe. When we were at the dock, we saw some snow (I think so). Too bad it wasn't snowing at all! But it was sooooo cooooollllddddd!!!

Before we had the amazing race. we had to go for the tour! So we met our new tour guide (Taiwanese) and off we go to see the HUGE church which is made up of GOLD! I believe that the name is St Mark's Basilica! The interior design was out of this world! interior is based on a Greek cross, with each arm divided in three naves and emphasized by a dome of its own. The ceiling is decorated with the whole bible stories (painted!). It was amazing and again, we couldn't take photos at all. D:

Hmm, after that, we made our way to the glass factory where they showed us how to make a venetian glass! Let me just say that the 2 guys move so fast and even though the space was small, they never hit each other at all. Amazing. The guide (Italian this time) told us that the glass-maker must be trained from young and that is why, this 'skills' are passed down in the family! Hehehehe.

We did went inside their shop where they sell the Venetian glass and masks! Whoooa whoaaaa! They looked so beautiful and colourful! ^^ I wanted to buy but it was a little bit expensive. Awww. Perhaps when I am older, I will return (given the fact that it will not sink yet). Hehehe.

Hold on, let me side track a bit..
Remember on the 3rd day when we stop by at The Mall and the seniors can choose who they want to dine with? Wells, this time round in Venice, the juniors have the chance to do just the same! Hehe. Since we are having amazing race, Mr Dan's agency gave us 10Euro (for decorating a mask) and 50 Euro again for lunch! Yay. Hehe.

I was with Si Ching, Nicole, Maryanne, Victoria!

OKAY! Let's get back to where we left off! After the glass factory, Mr Dan brought us to this bridge where we can see the gondolas! Whoaa. I want to ride it too. Hehe. We were briefed on what we are suppose to do which is mainly these few points:

AMAZING TO-DO LIST
1. Make your own Venetian Mask
& describe why you choose such a decoration.
2. List down and draw 20 different kinds of Pasta!

We have around 2 hours to do the 2 things as well as shop!
You can imagine how excited we were when we heard the word: Shop! Hehehe. Venice ISLAND has a lot of shops! It was heaven to all shopaholics. ^^ We really wanted to win this race so we made a game plan. We will first do the mask and along the way, if any one wants to buy something, we have to call the rest so that no one will get lost! SAFETY FIRST :D

Let me just say that it is so easy to get lost in Venice! SO many people. :O Hahaha. But of course I didn't get lost! Nyehe. Hmm, so as we explore the island to find the decorations needed for our plain-white mask (so hard to find!), we saw a lot of lovely decorated masks! They were so colourful. Hehe.

Oooohs! I must tell you this. ( I have a lot of stories huh?)
Since we couldn't find any shops which allows us to decorate our own mask, we had no choice but to ask, Venetians to help us! Yessa you guys. We approached 2-3 girls to ask for directiosn ect. And they were kind enough to help us. It was fun asking them in Italian (I am the only one who can speak wells, Nicole can too, a wee bit). I was like Mi scusi, dove è _____! Haha. Funfunfun. After a lot of walking (we were way inside the island!), we finally found the shop that we were looking for! HORRAY on that. We still have 50cents left ^^

teh 50 Euro, we decided to share food! We ordereed a lot though: Pasta, Lasagna, Pizza and dessert! Hehe. YUMMY! ^^

Maryanne's Crazy Idea:
Since we haven't decorated the our mask, Maryanne's suggested to eat our dessert real slow so that the owner won't kick us out as we do the decor! Hehe. I know, totally mean right? :) Thank goodness the shop owner is a Chinese! Oh yes, and since she's a Chinese, she spoke in Chinese when we ordered the dessert (ice cream). Totally FUNNY!

All of them couldn't exactly understand her! Haaha. Especially the part where she talked about the flavours of the ice cream! HAHAHA. I was laughing out loud (I can't speak Chinese). ^^

Hhehe. So anyways, after the decorations and dessert, we headed our way to find the 10 more pasta remaining to finish our task!!! Along the way, we met Mr M and guess what he told us?!!!! He said that Atika's team was the first one to finish the race and as a reward, he treated them to a GANDOLA RIDE! We were like: WHAAAAAT THEEEE HEEEECCCCKKKK MRRRR MMMM! Hahaha. Ms Mandy was laughing so hard. Nyehe.

Mr M wanted to see our mask and wanted us to tell him the story behind it. And guess what he said? He said our mask was waaay better than Atika's and the rest! Wohooo. Too bad, he gave the reward to THE OTHER GROUP! :'( Heart-broken! Hehe. Seriously though, our mask is indeed great eventhough the decor was not as elegant as the others, our concept was great! Dance related and all. Would like to thank my team mates :DD

HOPEFULLY, THERE IS A CONSOLATION PRIZE! (Mr M, hear that?).

After the depressing news (I REALL WANT TO RIDE THE GANDOLA!!!!!)
we decided to go shopping instead! Oh yes, Victoria was crazy over the pigeons, she keep chasing them since she wants to touch one. hehe. So cuteee, she loooks like a little girl!

SHOPPING IN VENICE ISLAND IS JUST AMAZING!

I couldn't stop but spend spend spend! I practically spent my 50Euro in there! Hehe. Bought Masks, Bags, Bracelets, Wallet and many more! I wish I could go back and spend more (if my parents allow that is). Hehehe.

Along the way, Nicole didn't feel so good. I guess the weather was too cold for her and she said she was hungry. So we bought a food for her and ask her to rest for a while and thank gosh she seems a little bit okay! Yay to Shawty <-- Nicole. :DD We only have 20minutes left so we decided to make our way outside of the church (meeting place). Ohs, we met some dancers along the way and decided to go together! OHMYGOSH PART: We were about to go to the other street when a group of people wearing Orange pants (most probably musicians or dancers) blocked our way. They were playing some intruments while some were dancing around!

And guess what happened after that????? They pull us right in (some of us like me!) and we danced with them! Hahaha. I know it was dangerous and so but they were DANCING plus, there were other tourists dancing as well. It lasted for about a minute, but too bad, none of us thought of taking a video! :O Hahah. After the dance, we immediately tell each other to check our valuables and stuff! After making sure twice that nothing was missing, we continued our journey! Hehehe. and alas, the long walk has finally ended! We managed to reach the ending point on time (even though we stop by and played with the pigeons!) We thought we wouldn't be doing any punishments today but alas! Some of us were late once more D: OHNO! Hmm. They were 20minutes later, I guess they were too caught up shooping (I don't blame them!). Heh.

Then Mr M suddenly said: DROP! Which means, pumping position! AND WE WERE LIKE WHAT? HERE? BUT IT IS SO COLD! :O Anyways, we did as we were told since we all know that it was our fault (All for one and One for all). THANK GOODNESS Mr M didn't ask us to do pumping! PHEW! Right after we went down, he asked us to go up again and said that we will do the punishment later. Phew! So anyways..

After that drama, we had to say goodbye to dear Venice as it was time to go back to the mainland. Very very depressing! Hehehe. So went inside the boat again and wells, the singing started once more! NO SURPRISE HUH? I know what you mean. :P I have to admit that some of our voices are good, we could totally pass off as singers! We can have a MUSICAL or something right? Heh. I do not have to tell you about the air since it is obvious that it is downright cold especially since it is at night! :D

Hmm, so we went inside Antonio's bus again and headed to our Dinnneeerrr! CHINESE FOOD! Heh. No need to elaborate on that I suppose. HEART-BREAKING NEWS FOR ALL ANTONIO FANS! This side-story is totally hilarious especially if you were there to see it! Hahahah. WHEN we went out of the Chinese Restaurant that we went to, we saw Antonio sitting inside another Restorante (Italian!). He was with a girl! OMGEEEEE! Hahaha. We were all saying: Antoniooooo!!! NOOOOOOO! ^^

Mr Dan explained that Antonio has been woe-ing the girl for a very long time, just mainly talking and visiting her when he is driving tourist around. Hehehe. This just means that he has a crush and no chance for any of us to be with him! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! Okok, this is nonsense! hAHHAHA. Just wanted to share this hilarious moment anyways. :P During our journey to the hotel, we keep teasing him. He was completely blushing! Hahaha. Seriously funny. Hehe. OKay, will not elaborate futher more then! :D

Oh yes, when we reached the hotel, we had to do the punishment and so we did! gaaaahh. We did hmmm, 30 pumpings? Painful much? Hehehe. Then of course, we did our own reflection!

This time round, it was a free reflection. Just mainly write what we have learnt and our thoughts about today! :DD Ohs! Did you knnow that there was a free internet? Not exactly free, we have 20minutes of free access! So I managed to email my parents and dropped a high message to NANA! Hehehe.

After that, we headed our way to our individual rooms to prepare for our VENETIAN MASK PARTY with Maggi! Heh. It was only 9pm so we have an hour till lights out!

CRAZY TIME WITH THE DANCERS DURING OUR MAGGI PARTY!
We held it in my room (duh!) Everyone wore their very own masks and brought their maggi as well! Haha. Didn't I told you that dancers love maggi? Heheheh. Will just post pics of the party aye!

AFTER BEING CRAZY, it was time for us to sleep! ^^
Wells, that was all for today! Incredibly fun, unfortunately or maybe fortunately? WE ARE OFF TO MILAN tomorrow for our Day 07 and 08 :O Hahaha. Ad huh? I knowww.

Alrights then you guys! I shall end it for now.
Buona Notte Lettori (Goodnight Readers!)

DAY 6.

Love, Rachael.

TEEHEE ;*

Today, we went to venice island after breakfast. When we were there, the tour guide told us about the history of the island and also about the cathedral there.
I found the clock tower very interesting as one of the men statue beside the bell would ring the bell a minute before every hour and the other men beside the bell would ring the bell after every hour! And when we went into the church, i was extremely amazed. I am sure everyone was, as the church was decorated very much with pure gold.
Then we went to visit the glass factory and also watched two man worked together for making this glass bottle, they were extremely sure of what to do. After that, we went for amazing race in groups. My group members are me, janelle, rachael osborne, sheryl and farliana. For the amazing race, i found it a very fun activity as we got to bond as well. And eventhough unpleasant events happened yesterday, It managed to dissappear somehow i guess :) Then we went for shopping and when we met at the meeting place, we were late again :( and we almost did pumping there and then but in the end we were going to do it in the hotel. Then we travelled back and had dinner at the restaurant and then here we are :)
How am i going to help AES DANCE ENSEMBLE to work in sychronisation just like the two man in the glass factory?
This is when everyone has to be prepared for this to happen. I think when there are situations and things needed to be done, we have to learn and get use to it then we will know what to do. So, i can help by getting everyone prepared and planning when there are situations or things to be done.
After i graduate, how am i going to contribute back to dance?
I could come back and help AES DANCE ENSEMBLE with the new juniors of course. I would be more than happy to do so. The juniors would need time to adapt to our culture and stardard and therefore, they'd definitly need more help. And i would also want to leave behind a good name and reputation of mine so as to encourage the new badges and set a good example as well.
The legacy.
For my legacy that i would want to leave behind, would be that i want people to think of me as one of the dancers whos' academics was bad but improve a lot and it is not because of dance that pulled me down but it's the hard work and effort i used that pulled me through to success.

                      PICTURE TIME! :)

Sooooooooooo prettyyyyyyyy ^^ !
i miss you italy!

AAAHH! IT'S DAY 6!!
Okay, so today is the 6th day,
In the morning we went to Venice Island and had tour there. We leant about the Palace of Duke, the Church and  the clock tower. We also went to see the Murano glass factory which is a wonderful and rare experience. Then, we were given money to get our lunch and finish an Amazing  Race. But we didn't really eat any lunch be cause we were still full, so ,we ate the Pizza Gondola which is a delicious snack btw. Then, we start our journey to finish the Amazing Race ASAP.
We started of walking around for the materials we need. Then, we stop by at a mask store and purchased an 8 euro plain columbia mask. After that, we spent almost an hour to finish the pasta task at a pasta store. Then, we went around to find sth useful to decorate the mask and found a patterned mask .Then , we just pasted it on top of the columbia mask, ad voila! its finished and we're done!
But unfortunately, we misplaced our mask and we went to re-do the mask without giving up and still finished in a short while. and ,so, we won the Amazing Race, As a prize , Mr.M let us have a ride on the Gondola. After that, we went to shop for the whole entire time we have left.
I bought a lot of things and somehow i'm super happy! :D

*What do i want to leave behind when i leave AES?
I want to leave behind my name as a great dancer in AES.
I want people in AES to remember me and i want them to be inspired by me.

GOODNITE,
KARTINI

Hey this is Day 06 alright, lets get this done and i can continue with the rest of the days.
So, I was late this morning, apparently, after the switch of room mates, we weren't really used to it...Farliana got the wake up call, she thought i was going to wake up, but i thought she was going to wake up...Turns out none of us woke up, and we were only left with 10 minutes to prepare. AHHHHHHH!!! gotta hurry up!!

We had breakfast, took the water taxi to Venice Island!!!!

The gondolas :)
At the Murano Glass Factory.
We visited the Murano Glass Factory, and we saw a demo of 2 men working very coordinated together, and within two minutes, they made a beautiful designed glass!! BRAVO!!

Anyway, we had lunch, and we proceeded on the Amazing Race, our team came up with the name Winx Club, and we started looking for mask to decorate and the 20 names of pastas...It was very hard looking for pastas, and we came across this shop, the owner was very rude to us, he said if we don't buy his pastas, we're not allowed to look for the 20 names of pastas..So we went to this shop, and they had all different kinds of pastas, and the shop owner helped us with our assignment. we managed to get our first task completed. Next we decorated our mask, and it looked spectacular, we were so overjoyed that we finished our tasks, we bumped into mr m. and just when he wanted to see the mask, we realized that we lost it :( and Mr M, and Miss Mandy started laughing, and everyone in our team, was panicking!  We couldn't find it, so we managed to make a new one, it didn't look as good but we were still the first group to finish, and the prize for winning, is a ride on a GONDOLA!!!
Winx Club!!!

Atika and Mai
After this amazing opportunity, I'm still awe...
Bye now,
Love,
Kim Sarah :)

Venice Island
We set of early in the morning to catch a water taxi to Venice Island.
We were so fortunate to get a chance to visit the island as it was sinking and
may not be in existence for very long.
The scenery was spectacular, just like how i'd pictured it.
The buildings and streets looked very vintage and old. But that was what made it look so unique.

Murano Glass Factory
Watching the glass-making process, I realised that making it requires much patience, practice and skill.
Only with practice can we see good results.
Glass-making is a skill acquired only after much practice.
Like dancing, we can only perfect a dance piece if we have a lot of practice.
I also realised that they did things in a systematic and orderly manner.
This allowed them to do things more efficiently and effectively.
They were aware of their space as they moved around the little room.
We should do that too, to avoid bumping into each other when we dance.
We should also work together to make our ensemble more efficient in the way we carry out our duties.

Amazing Race
We were split into groups of 5 and given time to complete the two tasks given in the Amazing Race.
Task1 was to name and sketch 20 different kinds of pastas, while task2 was to choose a venetian mask and design it, stating reasons for the design and type of mask.
The fastest group to report to the teachers again would get a prize from them.
This made us more bonded among our groups and we had such a fun yet educational time wandering around the island.
Although we did not win the prize, which was a treat from the teacher to ride the famous Gondola,
(The Gondola I had in mind was the one with a singing man steering the boat from behind.
However this was not so, according to the group that won.)
we were all very contented and took the water taxi back.
However we won the 'Best Mask Award' and the teacher still owe us a treat.heheh.

DAY 6!

Ok i think day 6 is the most enjoyable day! \m/ why? read on to find out!
K so we got on the rocky shaky makes-you-wanna-vomit boat off to Venice Island after breakfast. Had a fun ride with the dancers, singing, joking, laughing. :)
When we got to there, we met our first and only male tour guide. he's asian too btw, haha, taiwanese. anyway, he gave us an intro about venice and then he took us to the major sights in Venice. Piazza san marco (st. mark's square), it's this like central area or like "meeting point" for us.
We also walked past the Bridge of sighs. Lord Byron romanticized this elevated corridor for criminals. The view from the bridge of sighs was the last view of Venice that convicts saw before their imprisonment. The bridge name comes from the suggestion that the prisoners would sigh at their final view of Venice out the window before being taken down to their cells. Pretty cool and creepy and sad at the same time. hah.
We visited the (gothic) Doge's palace too.
Here's something cool we witnessed: glass making. like, for real, real life!
The two men had to work together so that they do not bang into one another and similarly in dance, we too have to look out and co-operate with one another so we don't clash.
after that the Rialto Bridge, one of the four bridges spanning the Grand Canal in venice. and we splitted up for the amazing race.
My group members are: Dianne, Maryanne, Victoria, Si Ching. <3 luv em' to the core.
first, we decided to look for a mask and some paint. we finally found our store after searching and walking a long way from st mark's sq and our store happened to be beside an italian restaurant where Mr Dan, Mr Michael and Ms Mandy were (secretly) having their lasagne/pasta/pizza ;p ahah! so after we got our stuff, we went to that same restaurant for our lunch too.
after that, we had a few more hours remaining so starting shopping till we droppin'. bought loads of stuff (Y)
after we met up with the rest of the dancers and the teachers, we headed back to our hotel and called it a day.

well ok since the italy trip is over and Mr Michael probably knows already (and he can't do anything haha ;p), i'll just say it. we had a little "party" in Dianne,Alphonsine and Kartini's room that night. we brought out venitian masks and our maggi and we hung out for a while. we did return to our rooms before lights out anyway :)

so yes, i had the most fun on day 6 ^-^

xx,nicole.

Day 6!! :DD

We took a water taxi to Venice Island in the morning. We saw the clock tower. At the top of the tower are to bronze figures, both holding an axe. One of them will hit the bell a minute before every hour. I find it interesting! Later on, we went into a church. It was amazing! The church was built up using gold! I was like…Wow..!

Next, our tour guide gave us an introduction of the Island and brought us to an area called St Mark’s Square, which is the principal square of Venice. It is also a meeting place for us. We visited the Murano glass factory. The room was filled with hot air and I feel very warm inside. We saw two men making a glass bottle. They are very focus in their work.

Amazing Race!
My group members are Victoria, Nicole, Dianne and Maryanne. We are given two tasks. One is to decorate a Venetian mask and another is to sketch 20 different types of pastas. We bought a plain mask and some coloring materials. We decorated it while eating our lunch. After completing it, we went to look for pastas. For the remaining time, we go for shopping!

I like today the most! And I had fun! :D

End of Day Six!
